Three Nepali female Paragliding pilots — Trisha Shrestha, Pratibha Bogati and Poonam Bomjan of Pokhara — were honoured yesterday, the 104th International Women’s Day, in recognition of their service in the ”adventurous, recreational and risky sport where male pilots have been dominating for long”.
Anuradha Koirala, chairperson of Maiti Nepal, a non-government organisation fighting against human trafficking giving the award, said women paragliding pilots were becoming a source of inspiration for many other women.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
